- 1X2
- A three‑way market where you bet on either the home win (1), draw (X) or away win (2).
- Accumulator
- A single bet that links multiple selections; all must win for the bet to pay out, multiplying the odds.
- Asian Handicap
- A spread betting line that gives a handicap to each team to eliminate the draw option and balance the odds.
- Bankroll Management
- The practice of setting a budget for betting and deciding how much to stake on each wager.
- Both Teams To Score
- A bet on whether each side will score at least one goal during the match.
- Chalk
- The favorite in a game, usually indicated by low odds; bettors say the team is "on the chalk".
- Decimal Odds
- A way to express odds as a single number (e.g., 2.50) that includes the stake in the total return.
- Dog
- The underdog; the team expected to lose, often offering higher odds and potential payout.
- Double Chance
- A wager that covers two of the three possible outcomes in a match, increasing your chance of winning.
- Draw No Bet
- A market where you pick a team to win; if the match ends in a draw, your stake is refunded.
- Edge
- The perceived advantage a bettor believes they have over the bookmaker’s odds on a particular outcome.
- Expected Goals (xG)
- A metric that estimates the quality of scoring chances, giving each shot a probability of becoming a goal; used to assess team performance beyond raw scoreline.
- Form Guide
- A record of a team's recent results used to judge current condition and predict future performance.
- Fractional Odds
- Traditional odds shown as a fraction (e.g., 3/2) where the numerator is the profit relative to the denominator stake.
- Hedging
- Placing additional bets on opposite outcomes to reduce risk or lock in a profit regardless of the final result.
- In-Play
- Live betting on events that are happening right now, with odds that update as the game progresses.
- Juice
- The commission or fee that a bookmaker adds into the odds, also called vig, which reduces the payout.
- Kelly Criterion
- A mathematical formula that calculates the optimal percentage of your bankroll to bet based on the perceived edge.
- Lock
- Slang for a bet that is considered almost certain to win, often with low odds.
- Martingale
- A staking system where you double your stake after a loss, aiming to recover previous losses with a single win.
- Moneyline Odds
- American odds expressed as a positive or negative number indicating how much you win per $100 wagered.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total number of goals (or other stats) in a match will be above or below a set line.
- Spread Betting
- A bet on whether a team’s performance will exceed or fall short of a predetermined benchmark, with profits or losses scaled to the degree of difference.
- Stake
- The amount of money you risk on a particular bet.
- Value Bet
- A selection where the odds offered are higher than the true probability of the outcome, suggesting a positive expected return.
